U.S. consumers who were misled into making unwanted purchases in Fortnite are now receiving refunds, as announced by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Epic Games agreed to a $520 million settlement in 2022 addressing complaints regarding deceptive practices that impacted players, especially children, leading to accidental charges. The first round of over 629,000 refund payments is being distributed, totaling more than $72 million, with approximately $173 million still available for eligible claimants. Players charged for unwanted in-game items between January 2017 and September 2022 can apply for refunds by January 10, 2025.
