Several automakers, including Stellantis, Toyota, Ford, Mazda, and Subaru, are planning to pool their CO2 emissions with Tesla and Polestar to comply with the stringent EU 2025 emissions regulations. By purchasing carbon credits from electric vehicle manufacturers, they aim to avoid substantial fines that could total around 15 billion euros. This strategy could significantly reduce their penalty costs while allowing them to meet their emission targets and enhance their electric vehicle sales.
