Microsoft announced it will invest an additional 5.4 billion rand (approximately $297 million) by 2027 to enhance its AI and cloud infrastructure in South Africa, aiming to address the rising demand for Azure services. This investment includes funding for technical certification exams for 50,000 individuals in key digital skills such as cloud architecture, AI, and cybersecurity. Microsoft previously invested 20.4 billion rand to establish enterprise-grade data centers in Johannesburg and Cape Town, making the country an important hub for AI technology.
