Japan's chief trade negotiator, Ryosei Akazawa, announced some progress in the latest round of talks with U.S. officials regarding tariffs impacting Japan's economy, which include high rates on autos and steel. If no agreement is reached, a 24% tariff will come into effect in July. Akazawa emphasized the urgency of reaching a deal before the upcoming G7 summit while maintaining Japan's stance against the tariffs.
