A lithium-ion battery plant, established by Indonesia Battery Corp and China's CATL, is expected to begin operations by the end of 2026 with an initial capacity of 6.9 GWh. This facility, part of a $6 billion project, aims to produce batteries for electric vehicles and may expand to generate energy storage solutions, potentially reaching a total capacity of up to 40 GWh. Located in West Java, the plant supports Indonesia’s goal of manufacturing 600,000 EVs by 2030.
