US mortgage applications for home purchases surged to their highest point since early 2023 last week, despite only a slight decrease in borrowing costs. The Mortgage Bankers Association reported a 9.4% rise in home-purchase applications for the week ending July 4, alongside a similar increase in refinancing applications, although both remain below pre-pandemic levels.
