Japan's Exports Decline for Second Month Due to US Tariffs

Reported 1 day ago

Japan's exports fell for the second consecutive month as US tariffs on automobiles and other goods affected the manufacturing sector, with economists predicting intensified tariff impacts in the near future. Exports to the US dropped 11.4% in June, the largest decline since February 2021, with significant decreases in automobiles and components. While overall exports decreased 0.5% year-on-year in June, imports increased slightly, resulting in a reduced trade surplus.
