Reported 1 day ago

Mexican authorities, led by President Claudia Sheinbaum, have launched a $22 billion initiative to overhaul and modernize the country's ports over the next six years, aiming to strengthen Mexico's position in global trade and enhance nearshoring capabilities. The comprehensive plan includes significant upgrades to key ports on the Pacific and Gulf coasts, including the development of the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, expected to provide a faster alternative to the Panama Canal, and will create a manufacturing and logistics hub in the region.
