U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent met with BlackRock executive Rick Rieder in New York as part of the ongoing search for a new Federal Reserve chair to succeed Jerome Powell, whose term ends in May. Bessent has discussed candidates with four of the potential replacements and is working to narrow down the list for President Trump, who is seeking a Fed leader aligned with his strategy of rapid interest rate cuts. Trump's administration is also preparing for a Senate vote to confirm Stephen Miran to the Fed.
