Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has signed an executive order to attract data centers by exempting certain IT equipment from federal taxes and introduced a bill to regulate digital competition. The move aims to free up about 2 trillion reais ($377 billion) in investment over the next decade. The executive order is effective immediately while awaiting Congressional approval, whereas the bill must pass Congress to take effect.
