Vodafone and AST SpaceMobile have announced their plans to create a Europe-led satellite constellation aimed at providing satellite-to-smartphone connectivity for both commercial and government use. The operational center will be located in Germany, with the possibility of establishing it near Munich or Hannover. This initiative is expected to support broadband services and public safety, with commercial operations set to start in 2026. The move comes amid growing competition in mobile connectivity, particularly following Starlink's recent agreements to enhance its service offerings.
