Aircraft Delivery Delays Impacting Lufthansa Severely, CEO States

Reported over 1 year ago

Lufthansa's CEO, Carsten Spohr, mentioned that aircraft delivery issues are significantly affecting the airline and are not expected to be resolved until the end of the decade, potentially costing the company around 500 million euros annually. Lufthansa's order of 250 new aircraft from Airbus and Boeing for fleet modernization is facing delays, with about 100 of its 750 aircraft grounded due to maintenance or decommissioning reasons. Both Airbus and Boeing are experiencing challenges in meeting delivery targets, with Airbus revising its 2024 delivery forecast due to parts shortages, and Boeing facing regulatory scrutiny causing further delays.
