Baidu has obtained a license to test its Apollo autonomous vehicles in Hong Kong, marking its first permit for testing outside mainland China. The Hong Kong Transport Department approved trials for 10 autonomous vehicles in North Lantau, which will begin on December 9, 2024, and run until December 8, 2029. The government has been promoting autonomous vehicles since 2017 and recently implemented regulations to allow broader public road trials.
