A woman in Taiwan was scammed out of nearly 2.5 million New Taiwan dollars after meeting a man claiming to be a retired Ukrainian field doctor on Facebook. The Criminal Investigation Bureau highlighted three common fraudulent schemes in online dating scams and urged the public to be vigilant. These scams often involve sweet-talking to build trust, requests for money under various pretexts, and providing dubious links for investments. The Bureau advises people to be cautious in online relationships and conduct investments through legal financial institutions to avoid falling victim to fraud.
