Beware of Handheld Fans with Lead-Acid Batteries When Traveling

Reported about 1 year ago

During summer travels, handheld fans have become essential items for cooling down. However, tourists should be cautious if they want to bring these fans abroad as those containing lead-acid batteries are prohibited from being taken on planes. These batteries are unstable and may expand or even explode due to collisions or changes in air pressure, leading to airport customs banning them from flights. Taiwan Power Company advises travelers to carefully check the product labels and instructions, ensuring the battery type and specifications before attempting to bring handheld fans with them when traveling overseas.
