British hedge fund founder Sanjay Shah has been sentenced to 12 years in prison by a Danish court for orchestrating a massive tax scam that defrauded Denmark's treasury out of more than 9 billion kroner ($1.3 billion). Shah, who denied wrongdoing and plans to appeal, was found to have played a key role in a fraudulent scheme between 2012 and 2015, exploiting legal loopholes to request fraudulent tax refunds. He is the third trader convicted in connection with this scandal, which has drawn significant scrutiny across Europe.
