Cheng Wen-tsang Resignation Just to Stop the Bleeding, KMT Caucus: More Important to Address These Matters Urgently

Reported about 1 year ago

Cheng Wen-tsang, the Chairman of SEF, was accused of corruption during his tenure as mayor of Taoyuan City and was granted bail of 5 million NT dollars by the Taoyuan District Court on the 6th with restrictions on residence, exit, and sailing. Cheng Wen-tsang also announced his resignation as Chairman of SEF at noon on the 7th. The KMT legislative caucus believes that his resignation is just to stop the bleeding, and the key issue is whether Cheng Wen-tsang had any other misconduct during his time as mayor and vice premier, which should be clarified. The KMT caucus emphasizes that with Cheng Wen-tsang being the first vice premier involved in a corruption case, the prosecutors should thoroughly investigate whether there are other suspicious cases in the past. This is the urgent matter now and also the best proof of the DPP government's determination to fight corruption.
