According to the latest information from the Central Weather Bureau, an earthquake with a Richter scale magnitude of 4 struck near the Hualien coast at 8:40 AM today. The earthquake had a depth of only 7.4 kilometers, with the epicenter located 17.7 kilometers northeast of the Hualien County Government, belonging to the offshore area of Hualien County. The maximum seismic intensity of this earthquake in Hualien County was 4. Although the magnitude wasn't high, due to the shallow depth of the epicenter, the earthquake was notably felt by residents in the Hualien region, causing some panic but with no major reports of casualties or significant damage so far.
