An investigation revealed the presence of Norovirus in the kimchi supplied by a manufacturer, raising suspicion as the cause of the poisoning. The contaminated kimchi led to over 1,000 students and staff in South Korea being poisoned, with schools halting lunch distribution and the manufacturer ceasing production and recalling all products.
