On July 7, 2024, Chao Shao-kang, chairman of the Chinese Broadcasting Corporation (中廣), led the 'Battle Blue' members to Keelung to campaign, criticizing the recall of Keelung Mayor Hsieh Kuo-liang as unreasonable. The Kuomintang (KMT) urged people to support Hsieh, causing Lin Yu-chang, former Keelung Mayor and current DPP Secretary-General, to react through his aide, criticizing that Hsieh has the lowest satisfaction rating nationwide, and that the KMT's support is indeed insulting to the people of Keelung. Lin's team member, You Benming, added that Hsieh's governance has been questioned due to suspicious bidding procedures and undisclosed details, making Keelung locals angry. Additionally, Lin was accused of deflecting focus by suggesting investigations into his dealings. Lin argued that the KMT is distancing itself from the people of Keelung and shouldn't assume the locals will continue to be deceived as before.
