A 20-year-old woman, Zhang, who was previously healthy, visited Taipei Tzu Chi Hospital with severe abdominal pain and nausea. After a computed tomography scan, doctors discovered blood clots in three major veins due to her long-term contraceptive pill use, putting her at a high-risk factor for thrombosis. Through minimally invasive thrombolysis surgery led by Dr. Yang, the risks of intestinal ischemia, necrosis, and peritonitis were averted. It was emphasized that the risks of vein thrombosis should not be ignored, and preventive measures should include maintaining a balanced diet, exercising moderately, avoiding prolonged inactivity, managing chronic diseases, seeking genetic assessments, and evaluating thrombosis risks before using contraceptive pills.
