A fire broke out at around 4:17 am at the Xishan landfill in Miaoli City, where a large amount of waste and furniture quickly fueled the blaze. Firefighters deployed 15 trucks and 50 personnel to the scene, with helicopters from the National Airborne Service Corps spraying water from above while firefighters on the ground worked to contain the fire. Efforts to extinguish the fire are ongoing, with challenges due to the terrain and limited water sources in the area. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. This incident follows a previous fire at the same landfill in November 2023, which took 5 days to be fully contained.
