On July 7, 2024, Taoyuan Mayor and Chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation Cheng Wen-tsang faced allegations of violating anti-corruption laws, with a court ruling for a bail of NT$5 million yesterday. Shortly after, the Foundation announced Cheng's resignation as chairman. Cheng, who also previously held positions such as Taoyuan Mayor and Vice Premier, had only been in office for a month, marking the shortest term among past chairpersons. Despite the allegations, Cheng emphasized his commitment to defending his innocence and public service values.
