After spending a year in isolation in a simulated Mars habitat by NASA, four scientists emerged on July 6, excited to rejoin society. Anca Selariu, Ross Brockwell, Nathan Jones, and team lead Kelly Haston spent 378 days in the 'Mars Dune Alpha' facility in Houston, Texas, conducting experiments to study the effects of isolation on human performance and nutrition. NASA is preparing for human missions to Mars, and this simulated mission aimed to simulate life on the red planet, including delayed communication with Earth and family, and other challenges astronauts may face.
