Since imposing sanctions on Venezuela's energy sector in 2019 due to electoral irregularities, the U.S. has issued licenses allowing some oil companies to export Venezuelan oil to designated destinations. Recent changes include the revocation of Chevron's license by President Trump due to concerns over Maduro’s electoral reforms. Additionally, various European and Indian companies have received authorizations to operate and export Venezuelan oil, while Trinidad has received licenses for natural gas projects with Venezuela.
