Perplexity AI, backed by Nvidia, is in negotiations with mobile device manufacturers to have its Comet AI-powered browser pre-installed on smartphones, potentially increasing its user base by leveraging browser 'stickiness.' CEO Aravind Srinivas acknowledged the challenge in convincing OEMs to switch from default browsers like Chrome. Currently in beta for desktops, Comet integrates AI into web browsing, allowing users to interact with their personal data. Perplexity aims to reach a vast audience after stabilizing its desktop version and is competing with major players like Google and Apple, which dominate the mobile browser market.
