Railroads to Hold Vote on $85 Billion Merger

Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern will conduct simultaneous virtual shareholder meetings on November 14 to seek approval for their planned $85 billion transcontinental merger. Both companies' boards have unanimously endorsed the merger, which requires the approval of shareholders from both railroads. The deal values Norfolk Southern shares at a 25% premium, and regulatory reviews are still pending.
