Chairman Zheng Wen-Can of the Straits Exchange Foundation was recently implicated in a corruption case, leading to a 500,000 NT$ bail decision after being questioned by the Taoyuan District Prosecutor's Office. In response to Zheng's resignation, Kuomintang legislator Luo Zhiqiang sarcastically commented, warning that Zheng should be prepared as 'Zhou Yu might turn into Zhou Chu'. Luo also highlighted various scandals during Zheng's tenure as the mayor of Taoyuan, implying a high level of corruption. Zheng Wen-Can denied corruption allegations in a past video, stating 'In Taiwan, if you want to be a corrupt official, you must be prepared to be caught.'
