Silicon Box chooses Piedmont, Italy for $3.4 billion chip plant

Silicon Box, a semiconductor firm based in Singapore, has selected Novara in the Piedmont region of Italy for its new multi-billion-euro chip factory. The startup, founded by former Marvell executives, plans to invest 3.2 billion euros to manufacture 'chiplets' in Italy, with the potential to create a semiconductor hub in Piedmont. The project aims to generate 1,600 new jobs and is part of Italy's strategy to attract tech investments, with discussions ongoing for EU funding and favorable terms for Silicon Box.
