The Supreme Court is set to evaluate a contentious legal battle regarding the federal government's annual $8 billion subsidies for internet and phone services in schools, libraries, and rural areas. This follows a 5th Circuit Court ruling which deemed the funding method unconstitutional, arguing that Congress excessive authority to the FCC and that the FCC delegated too much power to private entities. The case, originally challenged by the conservative group Consumer Research, will likely be heard in late March.
