Reported about 1 year ago
Taichung City Ping District representative Wu Tianyou did not attend a district government inspection last year, but signed the attendance form and received a daily attendance, transportation, and meal fee of 2450 New Taiwan Dollars without proper attendance. The Taichung District Prosecutor's Office accused Wu of abusing his representative position for personal gain and filed charges of corruption. The investigation found that Wu went to Taitung on May 25 and participated in an activity there on May 26. Despite clear warnings on the attendance form not to sign if not present for the inspection days, Wu still signed. He later admitted to not being in Ping District on those days, claiming he was handling other public affairs. The District Representative Council confirmed his absence and refusal to pay for May 26, yet Wu still received the 2450 NT dollars. The prosecution considered this as a misuse of his position and charged him with corruption under the Anti-Corruption Act.
