Taiwan Power Company Forecasts Highest Peak Load Ever in July, Ensures Sufficient Power Supply

Reported 12 months ago

Facing the high electricity demand during the hot summer in July, Taiwan Power Company predicts that the peak instantaneous load will reach 41.19 million kilowatts, breaking the historical record. The company assures that it is well-prepared to meet the demand by planning to decommission nuclear reactor Unit 1 at Nuclear Plant No.3 and replacing it with a larger capacity unit, along with the return of maintenance units and the use of renewable energy. The power company estimates a 10% reserve capacity for the peak daytime demand and 7% for nighttime, ensuring a stable power supply throughout the month despite the decommissioning of a nuclear reactor.
