On July 17, 2024, at 7:48 AM, Public Television News received a hospital report leading to the arrest of a suspected male caregiver for drug possession. Despite denying drug use, white powder residue was found on his nose, and the drug ketamine was discovered in his identification card holder. The 37-year-old male caregiver, surnamed Zheng, was previously found to have a drug record and later admitted to drug use during work hours at Taipei City United Hospital's Ren'ai branch before being dismissed. Caregivers using drugs during work not only affect their performance but also pose a threat to the workplace safety of healthcare workers, emphasizing the need for careful consideration during the hiring process and regular health checks and drug screenings to improve caregiver quality.
