On July 17, 2024, at 10:35 am, the National Science and Technology Commission announced that the government's science and technology budget for 2025 reached NT$159.6 billion, a historic high. President Lai Ching-te has actively worked towards transforming Taiwan into a smart technology island, with initiatives like the National Hope Project. The budget includes about NT$20 billion for forward-looking semiconductor budgets, NT$10 billion for AI investments, and NT$9 billion for areas like space and communication. The focus will be on enhancing AI R&D capabilities, promoting AI system manufacturing industries, expanding AI tool applications, and strengthening industries like semiconductors, AI, military technology, security control, and communication technology.
