A former associate of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. will serve 28 months in prison after admitting to passing insider information to friends while working at the investment bank and Blackstone Inc. Anthony Viggiano, 27, who pleaded guilty to securities fraud, passed tips leading to over $400,000 in profits to two friends. US District Judge Valerie Caproni noted the need for Viggiano's prison sentence to deter financial industry wrongdoing, despite challenges in catching insider traders. The case is part of Manhattan US Attorney Damian Williams' efforts against financial crime.
