Hannah Gutierrez Reed, the gunsmith involved in the film 'Rust,' is seeking to have her manslaughter conviction overturned following the dismissal of Alec Baldwin's case. Her defense team claims prosecutorial misconduct and argues that evidence was withheld, violating her due process rights. The incident occurred in October 2021 when Baldwin, using a prop gun, accidentally discharged a live round, resulting in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Reed is currently serving an 18-month sentence for her conviction.
