Japanese Scientists Create Smiling Robot Face with Living Skin

Reported 6 months ago

Researchers at the University of Tokyo have developed a method to attach living skin tissue to robotic faces, allowing them to smile. This groundbreaking work, which uses embedded attachments to manipulate the skin, aims to create more life-like robots for applications in cosmetics and medicine. The team, led by Shoji Takeuchi, plans to enhance the skin with additional biological features like a circulatory system, despite the existing challenge of addressing the discomfort people feel with robots that appear almost human.
