Reported 3 months ago

New Hsinchu Mayor Gao Hong'an, accused of corruption involving assistant fees, will have the verdict announced next Wednesday (24th). However, a week before the judgment, Taipei District Court handled the case where Weng Darai (American professor Chen Shifen) accused Gao of false accusations. The court debated for nearly 3 and a half hours, with both parties denying the accusations. The judgment for the case is set for August 21. Additionally, Gao faces charges for misappropriating assistant overtime pay and rewards during his tenure as a legislator, with the court set to announce the verdict on the 24th. Weng Darai had accused Gao of falsely attributing citations in his doctoral thesis, leading to legal disputes and counter-accusations.
