Kaohsiung Man Suspected of Using Copier Machine to Crack Electronic Lock, Police Notified to Intensify Patrols for Prevention

On July 17, 2024, at 8:04 am, a man was caught on surveillance cameras lingering in front of residential iron gates and operating a machine, suspected to be used for cracking roll-up door locks. The incident took place on Chixi 5th Street in Renwu, Kaohsiung on the 16th. Nearby residents were warned, and surveillance footage showed the man at other households' doorsteps. Lock shop operators explained how such copier machines could potentially crack magnetic induction electronic locks and advised additional traditional locks for security. The police have reinforced patrols and caution residents to be vigilant against suspicious individuals carrying similar devices or remote controllers for roll-up doors in the area.
