Military News Deputy Director Admitted to Spying, Judge Sentenced 5 Years 6 Months for 'Treason'

Reported 5 months ago

Former deputy director of the Military News Agency, Kong Fanjia, admitted to helping Chinese intelligence units develop organizations in Taiwan, inviting active-duty military officers to Vietnam three times in an attempt to establish contacts, but was rejected each time. Kong Fanjia was prosecuted by the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office, where he confessed to the crime and was sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison. The judge criticized his actions as 'betraying the country,' stating that his actions seriously endangered national security by receiving bribes, attempting to absorb Taiwanese military officers, and accepting money from the Chinese intelligence unit for over 10 years. All criminal proceeds were confiscated, and the verdict is open to appeal.
