Minister of Labor Hsu Pei-shan stated that the minimum wage review is expected to be held in September, with past adjustments ranging around 3% to 4%. She believes that an increase is a trend, especially with the high Consumer Price Index (CPI) this year. Regarding concerns about labor insurance and pension reform, Hsu emphasized that the government has allocated 120 billion yuan for pension reform and will not backtrack on this commitment. Despite calls for heatstroke breaks due to recent hot weather, she clarified that there will be no such breaks but increased inspections for high-temperature work environments and mandatory provision of cool shelters for employees.
