A well-known eatery in North District, Taichung, New Oasis Tea House and Restaurant, which has been in business for 35 years and is beloved by students and young professionals for its high value-for-money offerings, will be closing down in October according to the 59-year-old owner, Mr. Shen. The owner explained that the decision to retire at the age of 60 in October was prompted by health issues resulting from overwork and a desire to spend more time with his elderly mother. While the restaurant will be rented out in October, there is a possibility of a comeback in the future as Mr. Shen believes there are still business opportunities in the tea and coffee sector. The closure has left many locals feeling sentimental, with some reminiscing about their favorite dishes like chicken rice and drinks at the restaurant.
