On July 17, 2024, the National Science Council (NSC) of Taiwan announced that the government science and technology budget for next year is projected to reach NT$159.6 billion, marking an 8% growth from the previous approval. This total includes NT$146.7 billion allocated for general science and technology and an additional NT$12.9 billion for special forward-looking initiatives. Key areas of investment will include a focus on artificial intelligence, green technologies, and the semiconductor industry, with significant involvement from major industry leaders.
