In a bid to enhance energy independence and transition away from fossil fuels, South Korea's KHNP has been chosen through a public tender to construct at least two new nuclear reactors in the Czech Republic. The contract is anticipated to be finalized by March 2025, with the first reactor set for a trial operation in 2036. This decision comes as part of the Czech Republic's plan to phase out coal by 2033 and increase reliance on nuclear and renewable energy sources.
