Taipei Kindergarten Sexual Assault Case Raises Concerns Over Perpetrator Protection

Reported 8 months ago

A private kindergarten in Taipei's Xinyi District is under scrutiny after the son of its principal was accused of sexually assaulting over 20 girls. Lawmakers have questioned whether the Child Welfare and Rights Protection Act inadvertently protects the perpetrator by limiting media disclosures. In response, Premier Cho Jung-tai emphasized that the law is designed to protect victims, not offenders, and urged caution in media reporting to avoid inadvertently revealing victims' identities.
