Taiwan Mobile was fined 3 million NTD for not returning excess spectrum as required by the National Communications Commission (NCC) after merging with Taiwan Star. Despite promises to comply, the NCC found that Taiwan Mobile only deactivated part of the excess bandwidth, leading to the violation of their initial network setup plan. The NCC's decision to penalize Taiwan Mobile came amidst uncertainties due to four commissioners' terms expiring, but the NCC Secretary-General Huang Wen-che expressed confidence in the commission's operations moving forward.
