Frequent incidents of falling tiles from aging apartment buildings have raised serious public safety concerns in Taiwan, especially as many buildings lack proper management committees and funding for maintenance. A report from the Ministry of the Interior highlights that 20% of apartments older than 16 years show degradation, and 8% over 30 years suffer from severe exterior deterioration. Experts urge the government to quickly amend management regulations to enhance public safety, establish appropriate maintenance funding, and incentivize building repair, as current laws do not provide enough enforcement to prevent accidents.
