Following the EU's implementation of additional tariffs on Chinese electric cars starting from the 5th of July, the UK government expressed concerns over the import of electric vehicles and is considering potential actions. During a G7 ministerial meeting held in Italy on the 16th, UK Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis met with UK Business Minister Jonathan Reynolds to discuss the issue. The UK government emphasized that any solution must take into account the UK's automotive industry exports and be adjusted based on the country's economy. With the UK Labour Party winning the recent parliamentary elections after 14 years and facing the decision of whether to impose high tariffs on Chinese imported electric cars similar to the US and EU, discussions continue within the government.
