US Senate Taiwan Caucus Chairman Convicted of Corruption, Jury Finds All 16 Charges Valid

Reported 5 months ago

On July 17, 2024, in New York's Manhattan Federal Court, US Senator Menendez, co-chair of the 'Taiwan Caucus' in Congress, was convicted on all 16 charges and plans to appeal. He denies being a foreign agent, but prosecutors accuse him of illegally acting as an agent for Egypt, obstruction of justice, telecom fraud, extortion, and taking bribes from NJ businessmen to benefit Egypt and interfere with US investigations. Majority Leader Schumer and other Democrats are urging Menendez to resign from the Senate to avoid a vote that could expel him.
