Reported 3 months ago

Jounalists Li Renyue, Wang Qianhao, Cai Jinyu/Taipei reported on July 17, 2024, 6:26 PM, DPP Deputy Secretary-General and acting Director of the International Department, Yang Yishan (second left in the front row), was appointed as the Deputy Representative to the U.S. She will lead the 'DPP Diplomatic Skills Camp' to Washington D.C., and attended a pre-departure press conference yesterday. With the new government layout, there are rumors that DPP Deputy Secretary-General Yang Yishan will be appointed as the Deputy Representative to the USA. Concerns were raised as she does not come from a diplomatic background, and former Ambassador to New Zealand, Jie Wenji criticized the decision. Yang Yishan responded with 'thank you' when asked about the controversy during a DPP event. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs only stated that they had no information or comment on Yang Yishan's appointment.
